canTUBAllada - Hans Nickel (Tuba)
The title says it all: a tuba which “sings”. According to the music critics this is a CD belonging to the list of “Essential Listening” – the only tuba CD ever to have been given such an accolade by the Sunday Times. Suffice to say, you can listen to the only recording of Edward Gregson´s Tuba Concerto in its ´symphony orchestra´ version, the demanding canTUBAllada by Jan Van der Roost specially written for Nickel and Gregson´s Alarum in its original version. For the lighter muse: Per Archi and Rikudim performed by the Slovak Symphony Orchestra. The booklet is full of interesting information about the composers and the works. All in all, a must for any and every tuba player or buff!
